Getting Started

About Therapy

During the first session, we will be covering a lot, and I will ask more questions than I normally will in a regular session. We will talk about what is going on in your life currently, as well as begin to talk about your history and what your goals are for therapy.

For individual therapy, we usually take the first 2 or 3 sessions to do a full intake assessment where we go into detail about your history and formulate a treatment plan together.

For family and couples therapy, after the first meeting with everyone together, I will meet with each family member individually for a session to take their history. Once I have completed this, we reconvene, and I will provide feedback, and we will set treatment goals together.

This depends on many factors including the reasons you are coming to therapy and your goals for the work. It is difficult to know until we have met and explored this together. Sometimes I do short-term work that lasts a few months or less. More often, a longer process of therapy is necessary to reach your desired goals.
Weekly sessions are most common and often recommended when starting therapy. Sometimes biweekly sessions are necessary or a better fit for your needs. We will discuss this together to determine what is best.

Online therapy can be a great fit for you if:

  • You're overwhelmed managing your family's obligations and have difficulty making time for your own appointments.
  • You have a demanding work schedule and can't make time during the day to go to a therapist's office.
  • You're a busy individual who needs or prefers the convenience and flexibility of virtual sessions.
  • You prefer the comfort and privacy of your own home.

No extra time needed for a commute, no need to find an unfamiliar building or parking, no need for childcare. Sit on your own sofa, with a cup of tea and your favorite blanket, and maybe even a furry friend. If your home (or office) is safe, comfortable, private, and has a good internet connection, online counseling may be the answer for you. Sometimes the best healing occurs in your own safe space!

Yes, I see clients in-person at my office located at 2620 Regatta Drive, Suite 102, Las Vegas, NV 89128. I have immediate availability for both in-person and telehealth appointments.
Therapists are people too, and finding one that is a good "match" is an important part of the work. Feeling comfortable with and trusting your therapist are vital to a good relationship. I always want my clients to communicate with me if something I am doing isn't working so that I can try a different approach. If that doesn't help, and if it feels like we aren't a good match for whatever reason, I will do my best to find you someone who is! My advice is to speak with a prospective therapist by phone first and trust your intuition.
I ask for 24 hours notice if you need to cancel a session. This allows me enough time to offer the spot to another client who may need it. The fee for a missed session or late cancellation is the full session rate if we can't find another time to meet in the same week.
Insurance & Payment

Costs & Coverage

Therapy is a commitment of time, energy, and financial resources. Cash pay rates are:

  • $160 — Initial Evaluation
  • $135 — 60-minute session
  • $175/hr — Bringing Baby Home Couples Session (insurance not accepted)
  • Bringing Baby Home 12-Session Workshops — contact to book private groups of up to 8 couples (insurance not accepted)

Fees may vary for special cases involving the legal system, communication to third parties, additional documentation, forms, letters, or specialized reports.

If we need to schedule longer sessions to meet your treatment goals, we can do that as my schedule allows, at a prorated rate.

I am currently in-network with and accept the following insurance plans:

  • Aetna
  • Cigna
  • Oxford Health Plans
  • UMR
  • Oscar
  • UHC Student Resources
  • AllSavers UHC
  • Harvard Pilgrim
  • Meritain
  • Nippon
  • United Healthcare Shared Services
  • Allied Benefit Systems - Aetna
  • Surest (Formerly Bind)
  • Health Plans Inc.
  • UnitedHealthcare Global
  • Christian Brothers Services - Aetna
  • Trustmark Health Benefits - Aetna
  • Trustmark Health Benefits - Cigna
  • Trustmark Small Business Benefits - Aetna
  • Health Scope - Aetna

If you are using your in-network insurance benefits, we will check your eligibility and any potential co-pay amount prior to starting therapy. All insurance billing goes through Alma.

I am also an "out-of-network" provider, which means if your insurance company offers out-of-network benefits, you should receive some reimbursement for the cost of therapy. Many insurance companies that provide out-of-network benefits cover between 50%–75% of the cost per session. I can provide you with a monthly "superbill" which you can send to your insurance company for potential reimbursement.

Here are some helpful questions to ask your insurance company to learn how much they will cover:

  • What is my coinsurance or copay for out-of-network sessions?
  • What is my out-of-network deductible and has it been met?
  • What is my out-of-pocket max and has it been met?
  • How many sessions does my plan cover per year?
  • What is the out-of-network allowed amount per individual therapy session? (CPT code 90837)

There are benefits of using your insurance as well as benefits of not going through insurance. The benefits of not using insurance include:

  • Flexibility: I can provide services in the most flexible way possible, as we are not constrained by the mandates of an insurance company.
  • No diagnosis required: I do not have to diagnose you with a psychiatric condition for you to be able to receive services. This works best for clients who are not coming in for treatment of a psychiatric condition.
  • Privacy: Not using insurance allows clients to have more privacy over their mental health records.
I accept all major credit cards through a secure client portal, as well as cards linked to a Health Savings Account (HSA).
The Therapy Process

What to Expect

I incorporate several evidence-based modalities tailored to each client's needs, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Parts Work Therapy, Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). We'll determine together which approaches work best for your goals.
I specialize in treating adults and individuals looking to overcome trauma and PTSD, codependency, interpersonal relationship challenges, depression and anxiety, substance abuse, and career burnout.
Yes, absolutely. Everything discussed in therapy is confidential, protected by law and professional ethics. There are a few limited exceptions required by law (such as imminent danger to yourself or others, or suspected abuse of a child or vulnerable adult), which I'll explain fully during our first session.
If you're feeling stuck in patterns, struggling with anxiety, dealing with past trauma, or having difficulty in relationships, therapy can help. The best way to find out is to schedule a free 15-minute consultation — we can talk about what you're going through and I'll give you my honest opinion about whether therapy (and specifically working with me) would be a good fit.
